Associate Director, Graduate Teaching Programs
Amanda Modell is associate director of graduate teaching programs at Stanford University. Amanda completed her Ph.D. in Cultural Studies with a Designated Emphasis in Feminist Theory and Research. Amanda's dissertation, Hearing Heredity: Sound, Music, and Evolution, examines the ways in which musical practices and abilities have been considered hereditary in the twentieth-century US, in the context of inequalities around race, gender, class, and ability. Her work has been supported by the American Philosophical Society and you can find it in Media Fields. At FRI, Amanda assisted with program support and administration, as well as the interview series "What is Feminist Research?"
