Bio
Eli is a graduate student at UC Davis working towards his PhD in Sociology. His primary research interests are gender and sexuality, specifically how gender and sexuality intersect with science & technology, law, and popular culture. He's currently working on a project tracking and analyzing the evolution of legal definitions of “sex" in US case law between the enactment of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, banning discrimination “on the basis of sex,” and the high-profile case Gavin Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board (2018). For FRI, Eli is supporting the Asking Different Questions working group and providing research assistance.
