FRI is Hiring a Student Researcher

A student researcher is sought to work for the Feminist Research Institute. The Feminist Research Institute is dedicated to changing research culture to be oriented towards justice and liberation. Scientific practices remain infused with the legacies of white supremacy, colonialism, and patriarchy. And we seek to change this. If this mission resonates with you, please read on!

This person will take part in an interdisciplinary and justice-based research team. Our values are humility, collaboration, and liberation. The student researcher will take part in biweekly team meetings and engage in additional FRI programming. All team members take part in mentoring and training other team members. The student may also be asked to take on additional duties that contribute to the overall success of FRI initiatives and goals. We seek to create a diverse team and value expertise gained through lived experience as well as academic training.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in management of Environmental Justice Leaders Program
  • Contribute to research teams conducting surveys, data analysis, discourse analysis, and focus groups.
  • Assist with event planning and hosting
  • Database management
  • Introductory data analysis (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Write communications for internal and external audiences
  • Help manage website
  • Contribute to team projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in justice-based responses to systems of oppression. These expertise can come from lived experience, academic training, activist/advocacy work, or other professional training.
  • High teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to adhere to reasonable deadlines
  • Project management experience and  time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
