Bio
Kai Wen Yang researches the linkages between displacement, gentrification, urban planning, and capital accumulation in sexually ethno-racialized urban spaces. Yang was a postdoctoral fellow and is affiliated with the Department of Sociology and the Feminist Research Institute, and continues as a Visiting Researcher. Yang's recent works are on the reproduction of urban-racial regimes, zoning coalitions, and common sense. His dissertation is titled "Cycles Of Capital Accumulation, Bio-Politics And Displacement In Chinatown And The Lower East Side, Manhattan, New York City, 1965-2017." Yang's book, Collaborative Displacement and the Working-Class Struggle for Urban Space, is under contract with Rutgers University Press.
