Lydia Nelson

Lydia Nelson believes in building trust, creating meaningful relationships, and helping communities turn knowledge into action. She is the founder of Enriching STEM Society, an environmental justice organization that increases opportunities for underrepresented communities to engage in STEM, the outdoors, and environmental advocacy. Through Enriching STEM Society, Lydia partners with educators, community-based organizations, and local leaders in environmental justice communities to connect young people and adults with STEM and environmental education, while equipping them with knowledge and tools to advocate for their communities. Lydia brings an engineering background and a deep commitment to equity, curiosity, and servant leadership to this work. She believes environmental justice means creating the conditions for communities to understand the challenges they face, recognize their own expertise, and have the knowledge and opportunity to shape solutions.
