Are you interested in learning more about how scientific knowledge is made? Would you like to explore how science can be harnessed to cultivate more liberatory worlds?
We invite undergraduate students from all majors to apply for the Feminist Research Institute’s 4-day Intro to Feminist Science and Technology Studies (STS) Summer Workshop. This workshop will take place June 23 to June 26, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm PST. Students can attend in person at The Feminist Research Institute, or remotely over Zoom.
What You’ll Gain: Learn how feminist perspectives can reshape the production of scientific knowledge, helping us create more accurate and meaningful knowledge.
Topics Covered:
What is Feminist Science? Unsettling science’s basic premises of objectivity and rationality
Feminist Ways of Knowing: Standpoint Theory, Situated Knowledges and Intersectionality
Feminist Methodologies: Integrating our values into research
Embracing the Cyborg: Building a more just and equitable world
Who Can Apply:
- Undergraduate standing
- Graduation date of Fall 2025 or later
- Interest in learning more about feminist approaches to science and technology; how science and technology can be reproduced to pursue more ethical, meaningful and impactful research
Requirements:
- Attend all 4 days and actively participate in the 2-hour sessions.
Dedicate 2–4 hours before each session to prepare and do the readings.
