Asking Different Questions
ADQ integrates feminist training into existing curriculum at the K-12, undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, and studies its efficacy. Feminist practices can improve the impact, reach, and inclusivity of research and teaching by offering tools oriented toward criticality, reflexivity, and bringing about a more just world. Our current focus is on integrating feminist research into graduate education to help STEM fields to ask different questions.
Health Justice
The Feminist Health Justice Collective (FHJC) seeks to provide a synthetic, expansive, and "upstream" framing of issues related to health and justice. It enables users to generate focused reading lists, syllabi, or resource collections related to health justice using the FHJC Database. The flexibility of this Database is designed to work in a variety of settings by indexing a wide range of publications and products. Most importantly, it focuses primarily on intersectional feminism and structural frameworks to emphasize the broader systems of power and resistance at play in health inequity and health justice.
Environmental Justice Leaders
The Environmental Justice Leaders program brings leaders working in environmental justice into dialogue and collaboration with the UC Davis research community. Leaders conduct research that benefits the community they serve, utilizing the expertise and resources at UC Davis. The program is a collaboration between FRI, the Institute for Transportation Studies, and the Energy Efficiency Institute.
Mobility Justice
All people should have access to freedom of movement, as well as access to needed services, goods, information, and places. Mobility justice is both a field of research and an active practice that seeks to address factors, both historical and contemporary, that limit people’s movement and develops solutions that lead to liberation. FRI conducts research on mobility justice in coordination with a network of justice-oriented professionals.
Undergraduate Research
We promote UC Davis undergraduate research through the FRI Undergraduate Advisory Board. FRI collaborates across disciplines in creating empowering research rooted in social justice and equity. We invite undergraduates to apply to be apart of our advisory board to grow the impact of feminist research amongst undergraduates.
