Blighted Beginnings: The Early Foundations of the School to Prison Pipeline

This paper argues that housing discrimination was a foundational to the school-to-prison pipeline. Central to this argument is an exploration of how institutions and officials ultimately manufactured inmates by using the term "blight" as a vector of social disease and disorder. 

Black Tax and Prosperity in South Africa

This paper outlines the current discourse that frames the construction of black middle class against a background of liberation struggle history of apartheid South Africa. Then I briefly outline an extended history of black middle class which arose soon after colonial conquest, diamond discovery and demand for grain. The overall question that interests me is: what is Black Prosperity in South Africa?
