Applications Open for the FRI Research Team

Contribute to projects on AI, environmental justice and more

FRI seeks students, community members, and partners to join our 2026-27 Research Teams. We will have teams working on the following research questions:

  • How, as feminists, can we be in relationship with AI? Can there be a feminist AI? This team will contribute to literature review and envisioning community-centered AI projects. They will also help with planning public workshops and events on AI.
  • How can we support community-driven environmental justice projects? This team will interface with the 2026-27 EJ Leaders cohort, help coordinate their visits to campus, and contribute to background research as needed by the EJ Leaders.
  • How do we collectively maintain our outdoor landscaping while valuing sustainability, Indigenous knowledge, and accessibility? This team will help FRI to cultivate and maintain a healing outdoor space that is responsive to our changing environment and the needs of our human and non-human visitors.

Interested applicants can apply here. You will be asked to rank your interests in the project above and answer the following questions:

  1. Tell us about yourself and why you want to work with FRI, and why you want to work on the top-ranked projects chosen.
  2. How do you align with FRI's values of humility, collaboration, and liberation?
  3. What research skills, academic training, and lived expertise do you bring to the team?
