FRI Summer Reading Club: Black Feminists Dream

Tuesday, July 5:30 pm

at Feminist Research Institute and online

Black feminism offers compelling models for how to image the world otherwise. This summer, we will explore three texts by Black feminists to understand how we can vision a new trajectory in the world that is based in relationality, pleasure, and collective action. Audre Lorde's Sister Outsider invites us to think past patriarchal and racist contructs to create a world devoid of intersectional oppression. bell hooks' All About Love looks to an expansive definition and practice of love. Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower chronicles a young woman attempting to survive and create community in amidst climate crisis and social dissolution.

We will meet on the last Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Feminist Research Institute.
