Student Assistant
A Student Assistant IV is sought to work for the Feminist Research Institute. The Feminist Research Institute is dedicated to changing research culture towards justice and liberation. Scientific practices remain infused with the legacies of white supremacy, colonialism, and patriarchy. And we seek to change this. If this mission resonates with you, please read on!
This person will take part in an interdisciplinary and justice-based research team. Our values are humility, collaboration, and liberation. The student researcher will participate in team meetings and FRI programming. We seek to create a diverse team and value expertise gained through lived experience and well as academic training.
Duties will include database management and tracking, event planning assistance, writing articles about FRI projects and events, creating social media posts, basic graphic design, descriptive analysis of quantitative data, thematic coding, discursive analysis of qualitative data, applied summarization, and other project based duties as assigned.
We seek the following skills for all positions:
- Expertise in justice-based responses to systems of oppression. These expertise can come from lived experience, academic training, activist/advocacy work, or other professional training.
- The ability to work on a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Coursework on research methods or experience conducting research, preferably informed by feminist theory, ethnic studies, or a similar justice oriented, liberatory lens
- The ability to adhere to reasonable deadlines
- Good time management
- Strong interpersonal skills
The position averages 10 hours a week. Rate of pay is $20 an hour, potentially more with advanced experience.
