Cultural Studies doctoral candidate Jeanelle Hope is researching the role black women artists play in combatting gentrification in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento.  Hope places gentrification in a greater historical context of a racial resegregation that has been ongoing since deindustrialization.

Alondra Nelson sits down with FRI for the initial installment of the "What is Feminist Research?" Interview Series during a visit to UC Davis on November 1, 2017.  Nelson acknowledges how feminist research has benefited from preceding generations of feminist studies, and speaks to the necessity of an ethical commitment to social mission and community partnership in the practice today.
