Introducing the Undergraduate Advisory Board
The Feminist Research Institute is proud to announce our Undergraduate Advisory Board.
Ellie Legg is a third year undergraduate double majoring in Psychology and Communication. Currently, she is a research assistant in the Social Cognitive Lab (SOCO) under Dr. Sherman investigating the formation of stereotypes and prejudice. Ellie is interested in the effects of traits such as age, economic status, or race on attitudes such as gendered implicit bias. She is very delighted to be a member of the Feminist Research Institute Undergraduate Advisory Board and plans on using this position to bridge the gap for undergraduate researchers looking to do more. Additionally, Ellie is a member of Prytanean, an all women's honor society, and is very interested in the work FRI does and looks forward to doing more work inside the institute.
Emily Htway is a fourth-year undergraduate double majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, & Behavior (NPB) and Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies (GSW). Currently, Emily is conducting a GSW Department Senior Honors Thesis investigating barriers to HPV-related literacies among Asian Women at UC Davis. She also works as a Sexual Well-Being Coordinator with UC Davis Health Education and Promotion. After graduating from UC Davis, she will be pursuing a Masters in Public Health with focus in Maternal and Child Health. Emily hopes to pursue a career in reproductive and sexual health equity.
Rania Gadnis is a second year undergraduate student majoring in psychology and minoring in human rights. She is very passionate about social justice issues, specifically advancing access to health care and education for historically marginalized communities. She’s currently a volunteer at a UC Davis student run clinic, Clinica Tepati, and a student advisor for UC Davis Upward Bound. Rania is excited to be part of the FRI undergraduate board to learn more about and contribute to how social justice oriented research can create movement building and long lasting change in the world.
Serena Broome is a freshman at UC Davis. She is excited to conduct intersectional feminist research, with a particular emphasis on creative resistance (the use of creative mediums to resist oppression). She became interested in this idea in high school when researching the power of folkloric songs in the Civil Rights movement. She’s grateful for the opportunity to learn feminist research methodologies from the Feminist Research Institute!
