Join the Feminist Research Institute's Summer 2022 book club! We will be reading and discussing Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indigenous Landscapes through Indigenous Science in anticipation of Dr. Jessica Hernandez's visit to UC Davis on October 20th.

Jessica Hernandez portrait

Dr. Jessica Hernandez is a transnational Indigenous scholar, scientist, and community advocate based in the Pacific Northwest. She has an interdisciplinary academic background ranging from marine sciences to environmental physics. Her work is grounded in her Indigenous cultures and ways of knowing. She advocates for climate, energy, and environmental justice through her scientific and community work and strongly believes that Indigenous sciences can heal our Indigenous lands.

This group is open to all who are interested in Critical Indigenous Studies, Environmental Science, Conservation, Climate Change, and related topics.  We will meet 3 times throughout August and September virtually over Zoom. Students who need a copy of the book can request one via the RSVP form.
