The Feminist Research Institute is proud to welcome two undergraduates and two graduate student researchers to our student staff.

The UC Davis Feminist Research Institute (FRI) is now accepting applications from undergraduates to apply to our Undergraduate Advisory Board. New members will be joining current members to participate in feminist research. The FRI collaborates across disciplines in creating empowering research rooted in social justice and equity. We invite undergraduates to apply to be apart of our advisory board to grow the impact of feminist research amongst undergraduates.

Undergraduates will have the opportunity to:

Join FRI and the Asking Different Questions research training program in Spring 2021. This quarter-long workshop is grounded in a commitment to social justice, and welcomes researchers who seek to better incorporate their values into their scholarship. Programming will take place on Fridays from 12-12:30 pm during Spring Quarter. Register here.

The Feminist Research Institute is hosting a Collaboratory throughout the year focused on this year’s annual theme “Beyond Health.” The Collaboratory brings together our Visiting Scholars and members of the UC Davis community to engage in timely conversations organized around keywords related to the theme.

UC Davis graduate students can apply now to participate in the Asking Different Questions Scholars program for Spring Quarter 2021. This quarter-long research training workshop is grounded in a commitment to social justice, and welcomes researchers who seek to better incorporate their values into their scholarship. Programming will take place on Fridays from 12-1:30 pm.

Exploring parental fitness, presence and absence in the era of automation, Feminist Research Institute 2020-21 Beyond Health research scholar Hannah Zeavin shares new research for her upcoming book, "Mother's Little Helpers: Technology in the American Family."

The Feminist Research Institute welcomes proposals for research, discussion groups, events, workshops, or other projects that applies the material in the Asking Different Questions research training series or the Asking Different Questions seminar.

Eligible applicants must:

Whose health matters?

How do we leverage “health” in order to create more just and equitable futures?

What are the limitations or dangers of doing so?

What is health and what does it do for our imaginations to think through that framing? How does an issue become understood as a health issue? What is at stake in defining an issue as a health issue? How does framing an issue as a health issue shape who is called to the discussion, who is left out, and who is positioned as having answers?

And finally, what would it mean to think beyond health?
